It’s been over a week since he last streamed, and we’re so glad to see our leader back and healthy as ever!
If you missed his comeback zatsudan, here’s the VOD!
Rather than talking about what the zatsu is about, since you guys will be watching the VOD anyway, I’d like to write about why he hasn’t streamed for over a week and why it’s important for all of us to take things easy and take our deserved long break.
Motivation to do the things you want to do is always a good thing, but in reality, we can only do what our minds and bodies would allow us to do. And when we are feeling the exhaustion and the lack of motivation coming directly from our minds and bodies, we should all listen to them. They were trying to tell us something very important. They’re saying that they’re tired and it’s time for us to chill and slow down. If we continue to push ourselves, we’ll lose all the energy that we have at that point. And when there’s no energy, there won’t be motivation, and then what happens?
Burnout.
Sometimes, it’s hard to part ways, even if it would be temporary, to the things you really love doing. Even with hobbies sometimes, we need to part ways for awhile until we go through the max recharge period. Sometimes, we really need to go outside and keep in touch with the ones we used to be in touch with— like a past hobby outside of the house or even reach out to your friends and say hello. Right?
And so, that’s what Altare did, especially during the time he was feeling completely under the weather. He temporarily parted ways with himself as a Holostar and even from social media and even from the Altventurers.1 He didn’t tweet or mentioned anything in his channel community tab that he was going to take a break. He just went on a break without informing the public.
If you happen to be one of those people who are miffed about him not informing the public that he was going on a break, don’t be. Instead, put yourself in his shoes and imagine yourself as him and how he felt like. But for the rest of us, maybe not exactly all of us, who had been following him for awhile now, just seeing him push through streaming already gave us some signs that he was about to burn himself out.
He streamed more a few days since his impromptu Apex collab with Axel and Astel, and the next thing we knew, he went on rest mode and have not heard from him for over a week.
What was I doing when he was away?
We all have our oshis. If you have followed me for awhile, you all know Altare is my first oshi within Holostars. We all have our own ways of how we view our oshi, but as for me, he is someone I look up to, my motivator to do things in life, just someone who I feel has my back as I also have his back at the same time. That’s just me.
A lot of Altventurers on my timeline have been in grief, so to speak. Endless and endless of tweets pining for their oshi as if they are losing life points on the days he doesn’t appear on Twitter or YouTube… And then there’s me, who have been busy with work, plus I also just started my first week of bootcamp, nephew-sitting, gaming, trying to catch up with watching streams of the other boys, trying to catch up with online art courses, and trying to figure out why FFXIV isn’t loading on my Steam Deck, that my mind had been way too occupied to join in the tear fest. I didn’t join the Magma board because I missed the tweets and when I finally saw them, it was already too late. I can’t draw very well, so I would have written a message instead.
But, with that in mind, seeing my oshi(s) taking a break also meant that I have to keep in touch with my own life too. Sometimes, hanging around on social media of any kind with your fellow fans can be very tiring, so when the oshi(s) aren’t present, it also gives me the time to reflect and use the time for me to work on what I needed to work on. I’m glad I did. I’ve accomplished a lot of things that I needed to do early on and my mind’s gone refreshed that my motivation to focus on the work and other things have risen.
When the time he returned earlier today, I felt a lot more motivated to keep on going. I may not have joined a fan-wide project,2 but I’m glad I was able to make it in his return zatsu and it felt great!3
The fact of the matter is, he will eventually return, which is why I don’t really much relate to others who just pine and feel sad about him. If he doesn’t return in a span of a month, then I can worry about him.
But now he’s back, and that’s all that matters. Right?
A few news/updates regarding Altare
If you’re reading this blog post now and have been thinking about purchasing Altare’s birthday merch, you’re too late. Pre-orders have closed earlier this morning @ 7:00 a.m. PST. Gone, gone, gone…
Maybe in Altare’s next birthday when he turns Season 3, he may have something better and much more practical than a ramen bowl set. Who knows.
Lastly, he, along with Axel and rpr (Rest in Ping) will be competing in this Thursday morning’s Shibuya HAL Apex Custom. If my memory serves correct, this would be the first time Altare will be participating in this particular custom, so it’s really exciting. The tourney will begin at 4:00 a.m. PST, and it’s also a weekday too. Some of us have to work on that day, but lucky for me, my alarm clock starts at 4:00 a.m. PST, so I can probably just listen in while I get ready for work and have breakfast.
Let’s all wish the Rest In Ping boys well at the ShibuHAL Custom and cheer them on!!
It’s a short blog, but that’s it for me for the day. Till next time homies~!
- Just to keep in mind, Altventurers is the official fan name. Cultare is the name of his membership. Because not every Regis Altare fan is a Cultare (meaning, they haven’t purchased or gifted any memberships), I’m going to stick with Altventurers from this point and in the future. We need to be more inclusive, right? [↩]
- I have my own reasons, but maybe I’ll share that in another blog post… [↩]
- I had to take a day off because my SUV’s engine wouldn’t start, so I had no ride to get to work on time. Luckily, my bro came by and learned that the battery was discharged, and jump started the SUV. It’s all good now. Whew! [↩]
