RAD DOGS (HoloPro Collab Cover)
For the very first time in the history of HoloPro, we finally got a song collab that involves one member from all five branches! Phenomenal cover, they showed prowess that reminded everyone why they are in HoloPro.
Reprsenting each branch, we’ve got:
- Tokino Sora (HololiveJP)
- Airani Iofifteen (HololiveID)
- Hakos Baelz (HololiveEN)
- Minase Rio (HolostarsJP)
- Axel Syrios (HolostarsEN)
This is an actual surprise for me, as I haven’t seen any teasers about it beforehand until I saw some people RTing Sora’s tweet and that is when I caught it. I got so hyped because not only that we finally get the very first all-divisions collab of any kind, but also, the fact that Tokino Sora, hailed as the goddess of HoloPro, is representing the JP girls! I’m glad that she’s able to break out of her own shell and now she’s part of this awesome collab!
Wonderful song, awesome rapping from Axel, Rio, and Bae, but overall a delight!
Check it out and subscribe to Sora’s channel while you’re at it!
VSaikyou – VTuber Most Cooperative Tournament (Apex Legends)
I will admit that I’m still a noob when it comes to vtuber gaming tournaments and competitions in general. But everyone on the scene has been talking about it— it’s time for Season 5 of the VSaikyou Apex Legends Tournament.
For about 7 months of being in the vtuber hole, I’ve gotten some bits and pieces of how VSaikyou is a huge deal, at least, in the Japanese Vtuber scene. However, if you are an agency vtuber who belongs to a Japanese vtuber agency, it does become a bigger deal than what it is. Anyway.
VSaikyou is a large-scale Apex Legends tournament where the world’s elite skilled VTubers gather together and compete for the win and the glory. Not quite— the tournament is by invitation only, so not any VTuber can just register in and then say you’re going to compete. Right. Those who receive an invitation become leaders of their own team. Those invited will have to choose their best players to be part of their team.
There’s another catch when it comes to forming a team. VSaikyou player rules go by points: a team must have a minimum of 17 points and a maximum of 21 points based on the highest ranks these players achieved since they started playing Apex. The leaders chosen are all Master ranks, which has a minimum of 8 points with a few exceptions.2
As of today (3/16 PST), the participants roster is finally complete: 20 teams of 3 players, 60 players total. Among those 60 players, 5 of them are our boys~ and here they are!
Team 07: Astel Leda (Leader), Asumi Sena, Ars Almal
If you’ve been on the Japanese vtuber scene when it comes to Apex Legends, Astel is a huuuuge name in that scene. Anything that involves Apex Legends in general, Astel’s name is always equated to that game. The first time I’ve seen him play was the day he had his first collab with Altare and Vesper not too long after the Tempus debut. And then, he collabed with Axel and Izuru, and played a ShibuyaHAL Custom with Axel and Fuma. Not only he is a lethal player, but other vtubers who knew him in the past tournaments and customs claim that he’s such a troll master and a complete monster that many fear him, loathe him, but simply be alert of him.
Astel is one of my oshis in Holostars, and more or less I have been following his streams lately. His last tournament3 somehow gave him a bit of a hard time that he even mentioned to Izuru and Rikka (who were his teamates them) that he has gotten rusty with Apex. He had been focusing more on other games, such as Valorant and League of Legends, that he may be losing his touch. From some tweets and some clips lately, he also mentioned that he would be using a new character for VSaikyou and not stick to his main, Mad Maggie.
We’ll see what happens when April comes, and I wish for him and his team to do well!
Team 09: Pakael (Leader), Rikka, Kuga Leo
Not gonna lie, I always thought that Astel and Izuru, the two multi-talented singers of Holostars, are dang super-cracked at Apex. And then there’s another multi-talented singer who also joins their ranks who goes by the name Rikka.
I first saw Rikka in action on Apex late of last year when two particular tournaments, CR (Crazy Raccoon) Cup and Kohaku Cup were takinng place on the same weekend. During the practice week, Rikka joined Axel and rpr in one of their practice streams just sometime after Altare had to leave early.4 I was really happy to see Rikka having his first collab with at least one member of Tempus, and I got to know him a little bit on that stream. On that week, Rikka was practicing for the CR Cup with Astel and Izuru, while the Rest In Ping team were practicing for the Kohaku Cup.
And then, we got to see him in the Kureiji Arcade major collab too! He may not be out there shooting people, but he was in Third Place in the Boxing Match with Bettel at 2nd and Dez at 1st.
Not-Holostars-related, but another name that caught my eye from this team is Kuga Leo. I don’t know much about him, but I heard his name mentioned in the past Apex clips. His name was also mentioned in one of Axel’s recent zatsus when Axel was trying to form his team. He wanted to reach out to the JP side, but unfortunately, the managers would have to do that and they’re all off on the weekend, so he decided to go for an all-EN (English-speaking) team instead. One chatter mentioned Kuga Leo’s name,5 but he was already in another team (which is this one, of course).
It would’ve been awesome to see an all-Holostars VSaikyou team with Rikka, Astel (and probably Izuru but he’s not participating this season), but because of the whole points system, it’s impossible. Good luck to this team!
TEAM 12: Shinomiya Runa (Leader), Kaminari QPi, Hizaki Gamma
Here’s a short sad story. Yatogami Fuma, the leader of Uproar, had always dreamed of competing in VSaikyou along with his senpai and oshi, Astel Leda. In fact, he even got an invitation to compete in this season’s VSaikyou too. However, the dates and schedules conflicted with his own work schedules that he would have to reject the invitation, and so, he won’t be able to participate. But today, a blessing (maybe?) came when we learned that Fuma’s fellow Uproar genmate, Hizaki Gamma, will be competing in VSaikyou as part of Team 12!
I think it’s a given that (almost?) everyone at Holostars got some experience with Apex Legends. I’ve seen Gamma’s gaming on Valorant and he’s quite good at it. Gamma was also at Kureiji Arcade too, and I’m guessing that this would also be his first time competing in VSaikyou too. I’d like to think that he’s participating in place of Fuma, but at the same time he’s there to make some history for himself too.
Wishing Gamma and his team the best for VSaikyou too!
TEAM 14: Axel Syrios (Leader), Selen Tatsuki, Regis Altare
Some weeks ago, I’ve seen some people on my Twitter timeline complaining about the invitees being the same participants from the past seasons. If you think about it, it is a bit unfair. However, according to some who have been following VSaikyou for the past seasons, there are many new names on the participant roster.
The big story (in my opinion anyway) of this season’s VSaikyou is our very own Team 14 with Axel, Altare, and pretty dragon Selen Tatsuki of Nijisanji EN. Why? Becaue this team is about to make history in VSaikyou since the tournament first held.
Team 14 isn’t just another huge Holo-Niji EN collab team. Team 14 is the first all-EN team to compete in VSaikyou. That’s a first, folks! Gotta leave it to Tempus to change the status quo right?
I don’t know about you guys, but I feel like all eyes will be on this team. I’ve already seen Axel and Altare in action for a long time now, but I also have heard that Selen used to be in the Top 500 best players at Predator level6 years ago. But years passed and she no longer focuses on Apex and she loses her touch. It’s kind of like Astel, who also lost his own touch as of late with Apex too.
So, in short, we’re all even. Let the battle begin!
It would have been awesome if rpr was included so it’ll be another fun competition with Rest In Ping, but because rpr is a long-time veteran, he won’t be able to participate. He was also asked to be a coach on one of the teams, so he wouldn’t be on the same team as Axel and Altare. We’re still waiting to see who their coach is going to be when the day arrives. As much as I love to support all the boys in their respective teams, I’m actually rooting for Team 14. Both Axel and Altare are my oshis (as well as Astel), and since this is their first time,7 I’m rooting for them.
I’m really excited for VSaikyou. Looking forward to that day!
Special Shoutouts!
I also would like to give a special shoutout to the ladies, Natsuiro Matsuri, Tokoyami Towa, and La+ Darkness for reppin’ Hololive. A win from the ladies and from the boys is a win for HoloPro! Good luck to all of you!
VRoyale V-Tuber Only Racing Competition (Mario Kart 8) – Updated 3/18
This is a bit of a last-minute announcement, as this event will be on March 18th. It will consist of 36 VTubers who will be competing in Mario Kart 8. It’s the first of its kind, at least on the EN VTubing side. We’ve got one representative from Holostars participating — our Tempus guild leader himself, Regis Altare, and his fellow young guildmade, Machina X Flayon.
Fellow Rest In Ping member rpr is one of the organizers of this event, and extended the invitation to Altare and Flay. There are a couple of familiar names in the roster, so this should be a fun event if you’re not into the FPS/shooter-type of tournaments. Let’s all root for our boys and pray for #HOLOSTARSSWEEP!!
VTuber Fes Japan 2023
HoloPro is having huge reps in every major vtuber event out there! They’re really unstoppable!
An event of song and dance, we’ve got our boys being part of the performers roster! Let’s all hear it for Astel Leda, Kanade Izuru, Yukoku Roberu, and Rikka in their musical glory! They’re also joined by the Hololive sisters, AZKi, Tokino Sora, and Natsuiro Matsuri as part of the fes lineup too!
It looks like we’ll be able to see the showcase online, but streaming tickets are not available yet, so stay tuned till they’re open! It’ll take place at the end of April, so we got plenty of time to wait and get ready!
Clippers Directory
I opened a new section of this site: Clippers Directory under the Noobie Pack section of the navigation menu at the top left of this site. I compiled all these Holostars clipper channels in one section as part of my thanks and gratitude for all the clips they provided, edited, and shared with us. They truly are lifesavers for uber-busy Starsmin peeps like myself!
I also compiled them together for anyone to share to those curious about Holostars. Rather than giving certain clipper channels to introduce them, why not just share this link to them and then they can explore every single clipper channel on that list? It’ll be a win-win for all of us, ne?
I’m still open to add more clipper channels not currently listed, so please share me your clipper channels if you have any. You can tweet me directly or leave a message on the Marshmallow QA linked in the page.
Final Conclusion
If you haven’t been following me on Twitter, I am currently sick of the cough and cold with some mild muscle pain and migrains. Luckily, it’s just the common cough and cold. I just wish I can get better soon because I’ve missed work for two days now8. I haven’t had any energy to do anything, but I’m glad I was able to gain some energy to blog this entire entry tonight.
Lots of good things to come for our boys, y’all~! Take care homies!
- First day of Spring is on March 20th – next Monday! [↩]
- This is where it gets weird— they can negotiate with the Vsaikyou staff regarding points assigned… yeah, I don’t know the details… [↩]
- CR Cup [↩]
- The debut of the Rest in Ping Team of Axel, rpr, and Altare was in the Kohaku Cup [↩]
- apparently, English is his native language, meaning he’s the first non-Japanese vtuber under Neo-Porte, a small vtuber agency founded by VSaikyou’s host, ShibuyaHAL [↩]
- Not sure what that means, I’ve never played Apex before, but "Predator" sounds like an intimidating rank to have! [↩]
- I think this is also the first time for Rikka and Gamma too? [↩]
- three days when tomorrow comes… [↩]
